Mattress retailer Spring Air has leased 4,200 square feet of office space at 70 Everett Ave. in Chelsea, a short time after the company came close to going under.
Property developer ACS Development Corp. brokered the lease transaction.
Earlier this year, the company faced the closure of almost all of its factories, including the one in Chelsea, after the failure of a management-led buyout, a statement from ACS Development said. Ed Bates, who founded the Chelsea factory in 1972, stepped in at that time and, after an appeal from his out-of-work former employees, Bates decided to purchase his factory back.
"We’re thrilled to host another great Chelsea success story," said Patricia Simboli, principal of ACS Development. "Ed came to us in need of high-quality space for his domestic and international licensees and clients with a fast turnaround and we were there to deliver."
