Creighton Commons, a 16-unit affordable condominium complex in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood, has been given the Award of Excellence for Affordable Housing Built Responsibly by The Home Depot Foundation.

The award was presented to the nonprofit, Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corp. (JPNDC), which developed the condominium complex on the 3.2-acre former Blessed Sacrament Church site with private partner New Atlantic Development Corp. JPNDC also received a $25,000 grant for ongoing work of developing efficient, healthy and affordable homes, according to a statement.

"We’re honored to have our work recognized by a foundation that is a national leader in the housing field," said JPNDC Executive Director Richard Thal. "We share a fundamental goal with The Home Depot Foundation: to develop homes that are not only affordable to people of modest means, but also add to the vitality and long-term health of the whole community."
