Officials gather at Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union's new branch office at Methuen High SchoolJeanne D’Arc Credit Union will open a new branch office at Methuen High School this winter.

The branch will be the fourth location in a high school. The Lowell-based credit union is partnering with Methuen High to offer students an opportunity to receive financial education and hands-on training as part of the high school curriculum, according to a statement.

The credit union will build a temporary branch in the main lobby of the high school at One Ranger Road and will move to a permanent space once the high school renovation is complete. It will be open Monday through Friday during school hours. In addition to teller stations, the office will house an ATM.

"The concept of placing offices in high schools is part of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s strategic plan for growth and success. We have found that our high school branch offices afford students an opportunity to establish a banking relationship at a very early age that we hope and expect will last a lifetime," said Mark S. Cochran, president and CEO of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. "Such an affiliation helps students understand and accept the responsibility of proper and sound financial management that will benefit them later in life."
