493 Commonwealth Ave., BostonThe former J.S Waterman Funeral Home in Boston’s Kenmore Square has sold for $3.5 million.

A national, publicly traded REIT retained Boston Realty Advisors to handle the sale of the asset. The building, 493-497 Commonwealth Ave. is situated at the convergence of Beacon Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

The building housed the famous J.S. Waterman Funeral Directors from 1921 to 2005. The building was built in 1895 and was designed by the architecture team of Arthur H. Vinal and Howard Walker.

"We had great interest in the property during our marketing process. Both the buyer and seller were great to work with," said Christopher Sower, managing director and partner of Boston Realty Advisors.
