John Kennedy, a senior principal and a co-founder of Watertown-based VHB, was elected as the 2014 international vice president of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). Kennedy has officially accepted this role, which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2014.
As international vice president, Kennedy will work to establishes policies for the operation of ITE, an education and scientific association of transportation professionals.
Kennedy has more than 38 years of active membership in ITE, ranging from elected leadership positions at the chapter, section, district and international levels; committee work; publication review; and service on the Coordinating Council. At VHB, he helped keep traffic moving throughout Boston’s Big Dig and played an integral role in Massachusetts’ first design-build project, a $385 million widening of a 23-mile freeway, conducted a peer review for a four million square foot transit oriented development and provided traffic management strategies for MassDOT’s Fast14 project.
