Skyline Locations, a Los Angeles-based location service for film production, has opened an office in Canton to capitalize on the growing "Hollywood East" movement in and around Boston.
The company offers a portfolio of 23 Class A office and mixed-use properties for filming and television locations. Skyline Locations anticipates its Boston portfolio will double within the next 60 to 90 days.
Skyline Locations works with property owners to maximize revenues by securing short-term licensing for on-site film and television production, commercials and photos shoots.
Massachusetts has been home to more than 25 projects filming in Boston and throughout the state over the last three years, according to the Massachusetts Film Office.
One of the largest contributing factors to the influx of production activity is an aggressive film tax credit which, according to the Massachusetts Film Office, has attracted more than $675 million in new direct spending within Massachusetts.
