Woburn-based Landmark Structures Corp. has been selected as the general contractor for a $6 million senior housing development in on Livingston Street Tewksbury.
A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the 33-unit Villa at MeadowView, which is a partnership with the town and the Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley. It will be built on land leased from the Tewksbury Housing Authority and will include 32 one-bedroom and one two-bedroom unit.
Somerville-based architectural firm Davis Square Architects and representatives of Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley and Housing Consultants from Gagnier-Hicks are assisting Landmark Structures with the project, which has been in the planning stages since 2008.
Each apartment will have its own kitchen and handicapped-accessible bathroom. A common area will include a patio, entryway with fireplace, dining room, an arts-and-craft room and a library with computer access.
Much of the project funding will come from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Construction will be completed in June of next year.
