Legacy Banks Absorbs Haydenville BoWM Branch

Legacy Bancorp completed its acquisition of a full-service branch office of The Bank of Western Massachusetts (BoWM), a division of People’s United Bank, in Haydenville.

Legacy paid $409,000 for the building, and $392,000 as a deposit premium. The bank assumed deposit liabilities totaling approximately $9.8 million. All of The Bank of Western Massachusetts’ employees were retained by Legacy.

J. Williar Dunlaevy, chairman and CEO, said, "We are thrilled to have entered the Pioneer Valley. We look forward to welcoming our new employees and customers of the Haydenville office to the Legacy family."

Legacy Banks is headquartered in Pittsfield. It employs 197 people and has 19 offices throughout Berkshire and Hampshire counties, and eastern New York.
