To The Editor:

I have read your article “Chain-Link Fences = Excitement?” published online on September 14th and was disappointed that you chose to demean an organization who provided us much needed support to fulfill a very important need.

During these tough economic times, corporate support is very valuable to educational organizations such as ours. The Morningside community has been in support of this project for many years. The requests for this project to be completed have gone unanswered for many years.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Berkshire Bank Foundation for its generosity in donating the financial resources and employee power to install our new fence securing our side-playground. This request was made by a large amount of our families through a family survey in the spring of 2009. The fence enforces the belief that

Morningside Community School is a very safe place where our students can focus on their academic performance and social well being.

I would ask that you use caution and certainly discretion when speaking on behalf of an organization regarding your belief of what their needs are. It is my hope that this type of journalism does not discourage others from giving much needed support.
