Lexington Historical Society Renovates Buckman Tavern With $100K Grant

Lexington Historical Society is restoring Buckman Tavern, a National Historic Landmark from the Revolutionary War, with support from a $100,000 Cultural Facilities Fund grant.

The society is using grant funds to install handicap-accessibility features, upgrade systems, improve fire safety, and repair historic fabric. It celebrated the project’s completion on May 4, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Cultural Facilities Fund grant was awarded by MassDevelopment and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

“Revolutionary War history is knitted into the fabric of Lexington, drawing tourists and giving residents a sense of pride,” MassDevelopment President and CEO Marty Jones said in a statement. “Buckman Tavern celebrates our state and national history, and we are pleased to provide this grant to the Lexington Historical Society for its preservation.”
