David H. Long, 49, has been named president of Liberty Mutual Group effective July 1.

Long, who has been with Liberty Mutual for 25 years, is currently executive vice president of Liberty Mutual Group and president of Liberty International. Long will continue to lead Liberty Mutual’s international business unit while assuming responsibilities as president of Liberty Mutual Group.

Liberty Mutual Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edmund F. Kelly, 64, will continue in his role as Liberty Mutual Group’s chairman and chief executive officer.

"I have often said that Liberty Mutual’s success is directly tied to the outstanding leadership and strength of our management team," said Kelly. "David has excelled on this team while positioning our International business unit and company for continued profitable growth. David has been successful throughout a career of important positions and increasing responsibilities. I look forward to David bringing these same skills and passion to the role of president to help Liberty Mutual achieve our longer-term strategic objectives."
