harbor_oneBrockton’s HarborOne Credit Union and Boston-based East Boston Savings Bank are among the local companies assisting in the relief effort following the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

HarborOne will contribute $5,000 to the American Red Cross and will match dollar for dollar any donation made by its more than 350 employees. Donations to the fund will be directed to the American Red Cross.

Customers and the general public can make donations at any HarborOne branch location, including its MultiCultural Banking Center in downtown Brockton, which serves a large Haitian population, according to a statement.

"The scope and magnitude of the Haitian earthquake is unfathomable. Hospitals and schools have collapsed and the death toll cannot be estimated. We appeal to our customers, friends and neighbors to come to the aid of the Haitian population," said James W. Blake, president & CEO of HarborOne.

EBSBEast Boston Savings Bank, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is also collecting donations for victims of the Haiti earthquake.

EBSB Chairman and CEO Richard Gavegnano pledged a $2,500 contribution from the bank. Employees, trustees and directors are also making contributions, according to a staement.

"We look for bits of good news and rays of hope and can take solace in the fact that the Red Cross, among other worthy organizations, is there and has the experience and wherewithal to bring relief," Gavegnano said.

Donations can be dropped off at any of the bank’s 13 branch offices.
