The Lynn Community Health Center recently held a ceremony to mark the end of the foundation and framework phase of its construction project, which broke ground in June.

Everett construction company BOND hoisted the final steel I-beam at a reception to mark the topping-off of the health center on Union Street in Lynn, according to a statement. Also in attendance at the celebration were staff and board members of the Lynn Community Health Center, Boston-based project architect HDR Warner + Assoc., Local 7 Boston Ironworkers and a number of other dignitaries and city residents.

Funding from the Federal Health Care Reform Act allowed the health center to nearly double the size of the project by building out a second floor and completing the basement, according to a statement. The 29,300-square-foot, two-story expansion is projected to cost $18.8 million.
