A construction worker helping rebuild a West Springfield home severely damaged by June’s tornadoes has died after falling from the building’s roof.

Authorities say 19-year-old James Ivanov of Agawam fell 30 to 40 feet inside the home from the roof to the basement late Wednesday morning.

The death remains under investigation but police say it appears to be an accident. The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is also investigating.

Police say Ivanov was part of a crew framing the house.

The building where Ivanov fell is next door to a home where a woman died shielding her 15-year-old daughter from the tornadoes in a bathtub. (AP)
