With just hours to go before the end of their session, the Massachusetts legislature approved and sent a compromised energy bill to Gov. Charlie Baker to sign Sunday night.
Major provisions of the bill included requirements for utilities to buy certain amounts of renewable energy. Earlier versions of the bill included language that would require energy audits to be performed on homes for sale and that the results of those audits be made available to potential buyers. That language was opposed by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors and was not in the version passed by the House and Senate.
