The Massachusetts Association of Realtors thinks it’s a good time to sell – so much so that it has put its own home on the market.

As any car zipping down Route 128 can see, MAR is accepting bids on its 7,500-square-foot building in Waltham. The association has turned to RW Holmes Realty Co., Inc. to sell the 1.48 acre commercial property.

Robert Authier, CEO of MAR, said the association’s building is getting too small to hold MAR’s educational classes, and he hates having to turn people away who are interested.

“We’ve been in this building for 20 years, and it’s served us really well,” Authier said. “But at 20,000 members or so, and particularly given the kind and amount of education programs, this building is almost always humming. We have [classrooms] right now that can accommodate 60 people, and we know now that we have to turn people away. We easily could have programs with 100, 150, 200 people in them, if possible.

“Maybe this is a great market to do something about this, and give our members a little more breathing room when they come here,” he said.
