Boston’s Margulies Perruzzi Architects (MPA) has completed the design of a 15,000-square-foot "medical home" family practice facility for Fallon Clinic, a large multi-specialty medical group practice located throughout Central Massachusetts.
Margulies Perruzzi Architects utilized the lean design process and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to create a streamlined and efficient space for patients and staff, according to a statement. MPA used the lean process to analyze and simplify the daily functions of the facility.
"Fallon Clinic completed studies of its processes before and after redesign, and determined that as a result of MPA’s design using the lean method, the total wait time was cut from 33 minutes to just 9 minutes," said John Duggan, director of real estate operations and retail subsidiaries at Fallon Clinic. "This process improvement and increase in efficiency will enable the practice to increase throughput of patients by 31 percent, providing a more efficient environment of care for our patients."
