James Cantwell (D-Marshfield), Welch Healthcare & Retirement Group Vice President and Treasurer Paul Casale Sr., and National Development Managing Partner Ted Tye. Village at Proprietors Green, a 149-unit senior living community, celebrated its opening in Marshfield this week.

Norwell-based Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group and Newton-based National Development Group partnered in its third senior housing community.

Village at Proprietors Green includes luxury rental independent living in one- and two- bedroom apartment homes. The project was built during a 15-month construction period by Newton-based Cranshaw Construction. Forty percent of the independent living apartments were reserved prior to opening, according to a statement.

"The concept of Village at Proprietors Green is based on decades of experience with senior living on the South Shore, as well as extensive market research showing a strong desire for a community of this type," said Richard Johnson, executive director for Village at Proprietors Green. "South Shore seniors and their families appreciate the flexibility offered by a rental community, and they are intrigued with our innovative activities, the on-site theater and educational opportunities as well as the peace of mind of the continuum of care."

The architect for Village at Proprietors Green was CBT Architects of Boston. The site was designed by the Boston office of Stantec.
