The Massachusetts Bankers Association (MBA) has introduced a feature on its MassBankMortgages.com website to help users find banks with a presence in their town.

The 351 municipalities in Massachusetts are represented in an easy to use pop-up menu, providing homebuyers with a clear list of which banks have a physical presence in each city and town. The website continues to include an alphabetical list of all Massachusetts banks, and a link to each institution’s mortgage pages online, the association said in a statement.

"The new effort is representative of our goal to continually upgrade the features and functions of MassBankMortgages.com," said Daniel J. Forte, president of the MBA. "We know this is a busy season for house hunting and being prepared with a lender who is a trusted source for a mortgage is invaluable. In Massachusetts, our banks are lending and looking for new mortgage customers, as well as small business borrowers. We also want to emphasize that the new search capability is only a means to determine where banks have brick and mortar operations.  Their reach, that is, the areas in which they underwrite mortgages, will include many more towns."
