Woburn-based Savings Bank Life Insurance Co. of Massachusetts (SBLI) has been ranked one of the least likely to have its life insurance policies lapse among the nation’s insurers, according to a new study.
The November issue of Best’s Review magazine published the rankings for lowest lapse ratios (the ratio of lapsed policies to policies in force) based on a statistical study of 2009 data for the top 100 life/health insurers. SBLI of Massachusetts ranked second-best overall, with a lapse ratio of only 2.6 percent, according to a statement.
"This study confirms what we already believed – that our policyholders are among the most loyal in the industry," said SBLI President and CEO Robert K. Sheridan. "At a time when it is very easy for people to shop for life insurance, it is gratifying that our policyholders choose to stay with us."
