Future contracts for construction in Massachusetts were up 20 percent year-to-date in June compared to the same month a year ago, according to McGraw-Hill.
Of the $5.3 billion reported for Massachusetts by McGraw-Hill, $2.8 billion was for nonresidential construction, a 17 percent increase over a year ago. Another $1.4 billion was for residential construction, a 22 percent increase and $1.2 billion was reported for "nonbuilding" projects, a 27 percent increase.
In the Boston area, future contracts were up 16 percent year-to-date, finishing June at about $3 billion compared to $2.6 billion a year ago. Of that total, slightly less than $2 billion was for nonresidential construction while slightly more than $1 billion was for residential construction.
