The average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage in the state fell to 5.08 last week from 5.13 percent the week prior, according to online mortgage tracker Zillow.
In the past few months, Massachusetts has had some of the highest rates nationwide, but this week’s figures put the Bay State closer to average.
Nationwide, rates on 30-year fixed mortgages decreased last week to 5.04 percent, down from 5.09 percent the week prior.
Illinos had the highest rates in the country, even with a decrease from 5.23 percent to 5.26 percent, according to Zillow.
Virginia has the lowest rates in the country last week, at 4.96 percent.
