For the second week in a row, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate in the Bay State is among the highest in the country, at 5.54 percent.

The rate rose from 5.40 percent the week prior, according to online mortgage tracker Zillow.

The average rate nationwide rose to 5.44 this week, up from 5.25 percent the week prior.

Rates on 30-year fixed mortgages were lowest in the states of Georgia (5.32 percent) and Pennsylvania (5.34 percent), while New York (5.60 percent) and Massachusetts (5.54 percent) had the highest rates, Zillow said.
