The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage in the state spiked back above 5 percent last week to 5.01 percent, up from 4.9 percent the prior week, according to online mortgage tracker Zillow.
Nationwide, the average rate rose to 4.87 percent from 4.85 percent the prior week.
Rates in Florida and Illinois were the lowest in the country, at 4.82 percent and 4.83 percent, respectively. Illinois mortgage rates also decreased the most, dropping to 4.83 percent from 4.98 percent the prior week.
