The Massachusetts National Guard on Wednesday held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new $20 million Unit Training Equipment Site (UTES) at Camp Edwards.

The 69,044-square-foot construction will be a state-of-the-art maintenance facility that utilizes green technologies, ergonomic design and internal and external communication technologies. The facility was designed by Oklahoma-based Leidos Inc. and will be built by Nauset Construction of Needham.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2015.
