MassMutual agents’ efforts to educate women about the importance of financial preparedness resulted in the company’s donation of $105,000 to cancer research, prevention and treatment organizations last year.

Forty-five MassMutual agencies participated in the company’s annual breast cancer awareness campaign, holding more than 100 "Pearls of Wisdom" educational seminars where women learned about the importance of financial preparedness and the steps they can take to better protect their families and their futures, the company said. For each seminar, MassMutual made a contribution to a local cancer-related organization of the agent’s choice.

"As always, the best time to review your financial preparedness is before an unexpected life event such as breast cancer occurs," said Beth Wood, assistant vice president of business and women affiliation marketing at MassMutual. "Our goal is to make financial education as accessible and actionable as possible, so women can start taking steps today."
