The Massachusetts Bankers Association (MBA) Charitable Foundation has announced the recipients of its annual community grants for 2010, which support 32 organizations and total $128,500.
"There is terrific need all across the region," said Norman S. Seppala, chairman of the MBA Charitable Foundation and president of Granite Savings Bank in Rockport. "There are so many deserving social service agencies. We’re pleased to be able to help support the work of so many individuals and organizations in their time of need."
The following groups were awarded $5,000:
Roslindale Food Pantry, The Italian Home for Children, Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, Food for Free Inc., Mystic Valley Elder Services, "Our Place" Center for Homeless Children, Lazarus House Ministries, Ruth’s House, The Paul Center for Learning and Recreation, Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield, New Baby Bundles Inc., The Wellness Community-Massachusetts South Shore, Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford/Wareham, Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, The Family Pantry, The Shine Initiative, Veterans Outreach Center – Metrowest, Worcester Youth Center, Greenfield Family Inn, Providence Ministries for the Needy Inc., Weston Rehabilitation Assoc. Inc., Child Care of the Berkshires and Elder Services of Berkshire County Inc.
In addition to the 23 primary award recipients, the nine nonprofits below are receiving $1,500 "honorable mention" awards:
Elizabeth Seton Academy, Birthday Wishes, Cambridge Housing Assistance Fund,
Greater Waltham Association for Retarded Citizens, Children’s Friend and Family Services, Cradles to Crayons, Foxboro Council on Aging, Franklin Food Pantry and
Nantucket Boys & Girls Club.
