A group of Medford residents announced the formation of "Wynn for All Medford," a community group dedicated to promoting the benefits of a proposed Wynn casino and hotel complex in Everett.

"We hope to educate the community further about what this project means for the city of Medford such as the types of jobs, career opportunities and the positive environmental impact it will have on the Mystic River," Jay Campbell, a Medford resident and social media strategist, said in a statement.

Wynn is vying for one of three Massachusetts gaming licenses to be awarded sometime early next year and has proposed a 551-room hotel and resort casino to be built on the former Monsanto plant along the Mystic River.

The group plans to work closely with Everett United, the community coalition that helped secure 86.5 percent of the vote in support of the local host agreement between the city of Everett and Wynn Resorts.  It is the first binding referendum since passage of the 2012 Massachusetts Expanded Gaming Act.
