Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino today recognized the 22 developments that broke ground in 2012, a total investment of $1.6 billion, which will employ 2,450 construction workers and create 2,010 units of housing, he said.
In 2012, projects broke ground in Allston/Brighton, Charlestown, Chinatown, the Innovation District, Jamaica Plain, the Longwood Medical Area, Mattapan, Roxbury and South Boston. These projects have housing, hotel, athletic, municipal, office and retail uses.
In addition, the Boston Redevelopment Authority board approved 37 projects in 2012, a total investment of $3.4 billion, which put 5,217 construction workers back on the job and will create 3,898 units of housing, according to a statement from the mayor’s office.
