Construction of a 55,000-square-foot Mercedes-Benz dealership at 80 Cambridge St. in Burlington will begin this summer following final approval from local officials.

The Burlington Conservation Commission recently approved plans to demolish two buildings on the site to build a new dealership, which is part of a local water resource district.

Bernie Moreno, owner of the dealership, acquired the former Palomar Medical Technologies offices in December for $9.15 million from Northland Investment Corp. In January, Burlington’s town meeting approved rezoning the 5.5-acre property as part of a planned development district, allowing its use for auto sales.
