A Montessori School affiliate will occupy two floors of the condominium tower at Boston’s 45 Province St.
The move is a boon for The Abbey Group, owner of the luxury condominium building, which has been struggling to sell its units and thus far failed to fill a restaurant it was promising owners.
The Torit Language Center Montessori will lease 6,000 square feet to run a school at the Downtown Crossing property for the 2011-2012 academic year. The school will house six classrooms, a movement and visual art studio and parents lounge.
"This facility will be a great asset for the residents who live in the area and encourage other families to live in our downtown," Boston Mayor Thomas Menino said in a prepared statement.
The original Torit Montessori schoolhouse will remain at 41 Bromfield St., immediately adjacent to 45 Province. At the new location, residents of 45 Province will have on-site access to the school, as well as priority enrollment.
"By partnering with the Torit Language Center Montessori and bringing this innovative school into our building, we continue our commitment to both our residents and our downtown neighborhood," said Audrey Reny, director of marketing for The Abbey Group.
