Rockland-based South Coastal Bank appointed Peter W. Radigan as senior vice president of retail lending.

Radigan, a Duxbury resident, is responsible for all retail lending, including loans, home equities and mortgages. The bank said he will focus on building the bank’s mortgage origination platform by retaining experienced mortgage loan officers and opening loan production offices on the South Shore.

Over the past two decades, Radigan has served as the founding partner and CEO of two successful, independent de novo mortgage companies.  His extensive career includes the posts of president and chief operating officer of Northeastern Mortgage and president and CEO of BancBoston Mortgage.

He has also had management positions at Eastern Mortgage Co., and First National Boston Mortgage Corp.

Radigan is a former president of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association.  He has also served on the Fannie Mae Advisory Board and on the legislative committee of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America.

"I am excited to be a part of the fine professional team here at South Coastal Bank and look forward to developing positive relationships within the communities we serve," said Radigan. "South Coastal Bank has a long-standing reputation both as a community bank and as a trusted mortgage lender that makes all national loan programs available to clients; it is a privilege to be associated with this organization."

"Pete brings a remarkable wealth of industry expertise and a strong commitment to customer service to this vital position. He is a well-respected and highly-regarded professional who is certain to make a strong and significant contribution to our Bank; we are more than pleased to welcome him to the South Coastal family," said South Coastal Bank President and CEO Robert Fraser.
