William J. Morse, president and chief operating officer of Whitman-based Mutual Bank, has been re-elected to the board of directors of Metro South Chamber of Commerce.
In this role, he serves in a key leadership position guiding the policy and direction for the 1,000-member business association, headquartered in Brockton and serving 18 communities in southeastern Massachusetts.
Morse is a long-time, active member of the Metro South Chamber. He was first elected to the board in November 2006 and joined the executive board in November 2009 as vice chair of the membership division. Morse became chair-elect in November 2010, and is anticipated to be elected chairman of the chamber in November 2012.
Morse serves as chairman of the board of School on Wheels of Massachusetts, an organization that provides tutoring services to children experiencing homelessness. He is a member of Bankers’ Mutual Resource. In addition, he is a past chairman of trustees of Massasoit Community College, and past chairman of MASSFIT, the Massasoit Financial Institutions Training program.
Prior to joining Mutual Bank as president, Morse was president and chief executive officer of Security Federal Savings Bank, headquartered in Brockton.
