Mutual Bank recently contributed $1,000 toward the purchase of an Early Childhood Literary Station at the Whitman Public Library.

The self-contained computer station offers children and families the chance to explore and learn from a wide-variety of educational titles in an imaginative, intuitive and encouraging environment, according to a statement from the bank.
 The program is very popular with their younger patrons, according to Library Director Jennifer Inglis and Children’s Librarian Joanne Warren.

"Purchases of this nature are outside the library budget, and we greatly appreciate Mutual Bank’s efforts to help," said Jennifer Inglis. "Community partnerships such as this one demonstrate to town leaders, parents and kids that local businesses recognize the importance of reading."
