Framingham-based MutualOne Bank has donated $6,000 to the Natick Veterans Relief Fund, a special fund recently established by Paul Carew, director of veterans services, to serve local veterans in need.
The bank’s donation was raised during its signature Checking for Charity promotion. According to Steven M. Sousa, executive vice president and chief operating officer, the bank donates $10 to a designated charitable cause for each new personal or business checking account opened during the promotion period.
Carew credited MutualOne’s donation with enabling him to grow the Veterans Relief Fund to nearly $12,000 in a short time.
"The bank helped us get off to a real good start; we’re extremely grateful," he said in a statement.
The Natick Veterans Relief Fund is designed to supplement the number of resources available to veterans through the local Department of Veterans Services.
