Coddington HallNeedham-based Nauset Construction has completed a renovation project at the Coddington Building in downtown Quincy.

The project converted the former school building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, into the school department’s new administrative offices. The 40,000-square-foot space also will be used for Quincy’s information technology departments, its printing department and a new meeting space. Exterior work included a new slate roof, copper gutters and new energy-efficient aluminum windows.

The project team included Wessling Architects of Quincy.

"Coddington Building is an outstanding adaptive reuse of a historically significant building," Stephen Wessling, CEO of Wessling Architects, said in a statement. "The original design lent itself well to office use while we were able to preserve the architectural beauty of the original structure for future generations."

The building dates to 1909 and was designed by Charles Brigham, architect for the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
