Needham-based Nauset Construction recently completed a new 14,675 square-foot memory care wing at Nashua Crossings, a Benchmark Senior Living Community in Nashua, N.H.
The $3.5-million addition will enhance Nashua Crossings’ care for residents with Alzheimer’s and other memory impairment disorders. The fully secured one-story, 27-bed addition includes 20 one-and-two-bedroom apartments including handicap-accessible units.
Designed by Udelsman Assoc. of Hollis, N.H., the addition includes a nursing station, a large activity/living room, a country-kitchen style dining room with an adjacent prep kitchen and two exterior courtyard areas with porches for the residents. The new assisted living memory care wing, called The Harbor, features design accommodations that enhance the quality of life for residents with memory impairments, including bright colors for spatial recognition, bathroom fixtures in different colors for easier identification and carpeting of special textures and hues for secure footing.
Wellesley-based Benchmark Senior Living owns 50 senior living communities in the Northeast.
