The folks at Zillow are tired of using the giant brains, and even bigger data sets, to analyze asking prices. Now, just in time for Valentine’s day, they’re trying to plot the location of Cupid’s arrows. Or at least what cities are best for singles, if any fish out there is looking to move to a new sea in search of better, shall we say, schools.

Their criteria sound reasonable enough — they use Census data to pinpoint cities where single men outnumber single women (and vice versa), a steady stream of new arrivals freshens up the dating pool, people have enough disposable income to wine and dine their partners, and there’s enough to do downtown for the city to have a decent WalkScore.
And after all that, number two on their list for women under 35, that famed haven for romance, where the lights shine brightly down the Furnance Brook Parkway and perfume fills the air….is Quincy. Far be it from me to besmirch the reputation of the City of Presidents, but “Quincy” not a name you often hear after the words, “We’ll always have,” you know?
But buck up, ladies. Number three on the list for men under 35 — just a hair below those bastions of romance Milwaukee, Wisc. and Inglewood, Calif. — was Brockton. So there’s that.
