Owners of a West Roxbury office building released details on their planned redevelopment of the VFW Parkway property as a 55-unit apartment complex.

A Marlborough-based realty trust led by Richard Olstein submitted plans for the estimated $17 million project at 1208C VFW Parkway, which contains a 3-story, 30,000-square-foot office building.

The 62,140-square-foot square foot apartment building would range from 4 to 5 stories, and include eight income-restricted units and 55 surface parking spaces.

“Repurposing of some of these underutilized sites… provide an opportunity to bring housing diversity to West Roxbury without threatening the single-family housing typology,” developers wrote in a project notification form submitted to the Boston Planning & Development Agency.

Developers described the parking ratio as a “a balance between the zoning requirement and current city policy.” The zoning requirement is 1.5 spaces per unit.

Spanning 1.2 acres, the property is located in the West Roxbury neighborhood business subdistrict and requires a conditional use permit from the Zoning Board of Appeal.
