State and local officials recently announced plans for the redevelopment of the 226 Main St. site in downtown Brockton.
The commonwealth’s Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance will work with the city of Brockton to relocate the Department of Unemployment Assistance’s (DUA) offices, currently housed at 36 Main St. in Brockton, to a new facility at the 226 Main St. site.
The current facility provides multiple services to DUA claimants including a call center, as well as hearing offices. The DUA call center facility in Brockton is one of three in the state and serves claimants and employers across the commonwealth.
“We’re really excited about the potential for this new facility to help us continue to improve customer services for our constituents,” Rosalin Acosta, labor and workforce development secretary, said in a statement. “As the commonwealth’s primary workforce development agency, it’s paramount that our own workforce has the tools and facilities needed to help people deal with unemployment.”
