Canton-based insurer OneBeacon Insurance Group recently formed OneBeacon Energy Group, a specialty business that will target upstream and midstream mid-market energy risks, as well as alternative and renewable energy sources.

Initial coverage offerings include monoline property, monoline general liability and general liability combined with auto liability, according to a OneBeacon statement. These are available to the exploration and production, transportation and storage segments of the conventional oil and gas industry, as well as to alternative fuel manufacturers and alternative energy producers.

Business leader Daniel Guida, along with Dean Aylesworth, Rickey Johnson and Anthony Recanatini, offer brokers and their clients access to an experienced energy-insurance team. Expanded capabilities will be developed and delivered later in 2009 and in 2010, the firm said.

"We are thrilled to launch the OneBeacon Energy Group," said Kevin Rehnberg, OneBeacon’s senior vice president of specialty lines. "Dan Guida and his team have extensive experience, which will allow us to respond to many opportunities in this growing sector."

OneBeacon plans to begin writing energy business July 1.
