Charles Pappalardo has been named vice president of business development for the high-growth science and technology sector at Suffolk Construction’s Berry division.

Pappalardo will be responsible for using his real estate and construction knowledge and strong relationships in the science and technology sector to identify new construction and renovation project opportunities for Suffolk’s Northeast region, according to a statement.

"As we continue to see signs of an improving economy, the science and technology sector is poised and ready for significant, sustained growth. Chuck’s deep knowledge of this sector, broad business strategy expertise, and strong relationships with biotechnology industry decision makers will allow us to strengthen our leadership position and pave the way for long-term growth in this exciting sector," said Mark DiNapoli, president and general manager of Suffolk’s Northeast region. "We are excited to welcome Chuck and we are very confident his experience will make him an extremely valuable addition to our team."

Prior to joining Suffolk, Pappalardo served as corporate vice president and officer of Global Facilities Management Services at Charles River Laboratories. At Charles River Labs, he was responsible for a real estate portfolio of more than 70 facilities worldwide consisting of more than 4.5 million square feet, and he managed multiple capital projects in excess of $500 million.
