Joan Parsons, senior partner at Boston’s law firm Riemer & Braunstein, will assume the presidency of NEWiRE, a regional organization of close to 400 women in the real estate industry, effective today.

According to a statement, Parsons’ goal as president is to continue to help women in real estate development and finance to network effectively, and to maximize leadership potential. The organization focuses on providing educational programs that foster the development of women in the real estate industry.

The official announcement of Parsons’ presidency will come today at NEWiRE’s annual conference at the Boston Harbor Hotel, the organization said.

"NEWiRE continues to be an important force supporting women professionals in the commercial real estate industry," Parsons said. "I look forward to continuing the growth and advancing the mission of the organization."

NEWiRE is a chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), a growing national association in the real estate sector.
