PeoplesUnitedLogoPeople’s United Bank’s community foundation has donated $74,500 to local organizations in the first two quarters of this year.

The Connecticut-based bank has given $1.2 million to nonprofits from New York to Maine. The foundation gives primarily to help community development, youth development and affordable housing, according to a statement.

The recipients in the Bay State include Bay Path College, Center for Human Development Inc., Franklin County Dial Self Inc., Genesis Club House Inc., Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts, New England Adolescent Research Institute Inc., Open Pantry Community Service Inc., Springfield Library and Museums Association and Worcester East Side Community Development Corp.

"From Maine to Westchester County, N.Y., strong communities are the economic foundation of our region," said Hank Mandel, executive director of the People’s United community foundation. "We are pleased to do our part in helping ensure that the many agencies responsible for that strength can continue to perform their good works."
