A newly-completed boutique apartment complex that replaced a commercial property in downtown Winthrop has leased 35 percent of its units.

The Procopio Cos.’ 22,000-square-foot Somerset project at 10 Somerset Ave. includes 29 apartments ranging from 500 to 1,300 square feet, along with 1,119 square feet of retail space.

Designed by architects Khalsa Design, the project received financing from North Shore Bank and is managed by Charlesgate.

Units are equipped with private decks and laundry, and the pet-friendly community’s amenities include a fitness center and coffee bar.

The project was initially approved by the Winthrop Planning Board in April 2019 and delayed by neighbors’ lawsuit challenging the project, and a settlement was reached in February 2020.
