Renovations to the observatory on top of one of Boston’s iconic skyscrapers are on track for the attraction to reopen next year with “immersive exhibits” catering to business travelers and tourists, alike.

View Boston will cover the Prudential Center’s top three floors with 59,000 square feet of viewing areas and exhibits that will let visitors create itineraries based on their personal travel interests, like public art or culinary experiences.

The observatory, which is owned by Boston Properties, has partnered with the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau on programming the space.

“View Boston will represent a major enhancement to Boston’s suite of attraction assets,” Martha Sheridan, the Bureau’s president and CEO, said in a statement. “We know how popular observation decks are throughout the world, and in a city like Boston with our diverse neighborhoods, unique topography, and historic landmarks, this vantage point is unparalleled. The array of experiential features, particularly the capacity to build a custom Boston itinerary during your visit, will be simply amazing.”

Boston Properties announced plans to close the Prudential Center’s Top of the Hub restaurant and existing observatory in January 2020, with renovations including a new, ground-level ticketing lobby and dedicated elevator access for the observation deck. Designed by Perkins + Will, the renovations take inspiration from other globally-known observation decks like Top of the Rock in New York City’s Rockefeller Center.
