When people think of jobs that come with life-threatening risks, they don’t usually think of real estate agents. But real estate agents can face unsafe situations, especially since they’re often meeting strangers to show them for-sale homes.
Agents have been robbed, assaulted, threatened and even killed.
Local Realtor associations have tried to educate their members about the dangers that exist and provide tips to protect themselves.
The Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors is steeping up its efforts to keep its members safe. The group is hosting a self-defense and awareness workshop Tuesday, Jan. 12 at its member service center in Yarmouth. Mary Keefe, a certified self-defense instructor, will lead the session.
We wonder what the art of Realtor self-defense should be called. Closing-Kwon-Do? NAR-ate?
