SolidEnergy Systems has leased 23,000 square feet at 35 Cabot Road in Woburn as it prepares to begin pilot-scale production in September of rechargeable batteries targeted for use in smartphones, drones and electric cars.

The company was founded in 2012 at Cummings Properties’ North Shore InnoVentures tech incubator in Beverly before moving to a 3,000-square-foot lab at 200 West St. in Waltham. In February, it raised $12 million in series B funding to support partnerships with equipment suppliers, manufacturers and consumers.

“Our new Cabot Road home is an open ‘wall-free’ environment, where we can think big ideas and turn them into reality,” SolidEnergy CEO Qichao Hu said in a statement.

Cummings Properties leasing directors Mike Truesdale and Rob Yacobian worked with Warren Brown, president of Boston Commercial Properties, on the transaction. Following an extensive renovation and buildout, the new space will be approximately 40 percent open office space and 60 percent production space.

SolidEnergy joins a growing list of energy companies at Cummings Properties’ tenants north of Boston including Gridco Systems, Pellion Technologies, The Boston Solar Co., Integrated Systems International, ElectroChem and Vionx Energy.
