The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has leased 17,639 square feet at Springfield Plaza for a new full-service branch as it relocates out of the city’s downtown by year’s end.

The 500,000-square-foot neighborhood shopping center was acquired in 2013 by Albany Road Real Estate Partners, which has completed a series of capital improvement projects including roof replacement, façade upgrades, new signage, lighting and landscaping. A former cinema was converted into space for the Registry and Bounce! Trampoline Sports. Approximately $1.5 million in tenant improvements are connected to the registry’s move.

Anchored by Kmart and Stop & Shop, the plaza has additional development parcels available, according to Dennis O’Donnell, investment manager for Albany Road Real Estate Partners.

Davenport Advisors is the construction manager for the registry’s move from 165 Liberty St. and build-out of the new branch. CBRE/NE is the property manager.
