Cambridge-based architectural firm HMFH Architects has completed the renovations of Brookline Town Hall.

The 18-month long project includes extensive renovation of a 7-story, 1960s-era office building to improve both energy and operational efficiency and meet the town of Brookline’s ambitious sustainability goals.

Work included new windows, MEP systems and flooring designed to meet LEED-silver standards. Work also included redesign of public spaces to improve circulation, wayfinding and accessibility; redesign of the ground floor to better meet community needs; and reconfiguration of offices to improve efficiency and adjacencies.

In addition, renovations of the two main meeting spaces, the Selectman’s Hearing Room and the School Committee Room, include technology and accessibility upgrades.

The Brookline Town Hall renovation was recently honored with a North Atlantic regional award for sustainability from the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and will go on to compete in the national IES awards program.
